Okay, here's an update. Since I used Lulu to publish my book of short stories from the prison, Admission of Guilt, I have three traditional publishers reveiwing my material. I find this amazing since I've been submitting this thing for a few years. I can't count how many queries I've sent out only to get a form letter back saying its not for them. But literally a week and half up on this website as a book and I now have interest, which is really cool because I just did the free publishing there (no ISBN and bar code yet). I was going to sign up and pay the $99 for the codes and distribution, but now I think I'll just wait. It's simply amazing the doors this has opened.
If you have that manuscript of yours sitting on a shelf, dust it off and give this a try. For one, you'll get to see your book in print finally, but more importantly others will see it. Two of the three publishers I had queried saying that I had self-published and I attached a copy of the pdf file generated at Lulu, the other one, the publisher was just perusing Lulu and came upon me. I am in serious conversations with this one. They have even asked to see another manuscript of mine in a different genre.
