Publisher Seeking Submissions

I am always seeking publishing options.  I recently came upon a new publisher who is seeking manuscripts.  R. C. Publishing is a small publisher just starting out.  They claim to be a 21st century publisher, linked with a print on demand press and state that they do not stock books.  Unlike vanity presses who charge you and make you buy your own books and do absolutely no distribution, no editing, nothing, R. C. Publishers do seem to be a bit different.  They say they are a “hybrid publisher,” not a vanity publisher; more of an assistant to your self-publishing, in that they take care of everything for you and publish you under their name.  R. C. Publishing will edit your manuscript for errors, get your ISBN and barcode, get you listed in catalogs and online retailers as well as get you a domain and set it up for you.

Marketing is basically your responsibility, though they say they will do what they can to assist.  With R.C. Publishers, you maintain all rights and there are no contracts to sign, just a simple agreement giving them permission to publish it.

While they admit they are fairly liberal regarding acceptance of submissions, they will not accept pornography, picture books or poorly written material, because their goal is to eventually move into traditional publishing in five years so they value their reputation.

They do charge for some of the service, though it appears their prices are not inflated for what they are doing.  What I did like about them is that they fully disclose costs to the author up front.  It seems that for about $340 you can have a 200 page manuscript edited, cover design, ISBN/barcode, listed in catalogs and online as well as your own website and domain and one proof copy of your book.  They seem pretty realistic and will also just edit for a fee.  Their website will be up by January 2, 2007, for now writers can submit completed manuscripts to:  rc.publishing@yahoo.com .  Put the word “Submission” in the subject line along with the title of your manuscript.  (e.g. Submission:  My New Manuscript)   All submissions must be in Word format.
