Two days go by before the phone rings again. This time it’s Karen the youngest sister. She says that everyone is going crazy. Her take on all of it is that Ron has been intimidating Charley and Claire and probably cleaning them out financially. She didn’t know anything about the starving them stuff. Anyway, she said that their mom has a lock box at the house with the will and everything in it. So, Roy tells her, “then go get it.” Karen says she would only go if she knew for sure that Ron wasn’t there. I can see my husband just shaking his head in disbelief. Then he inquires about the old man. Karen says he’s been mentally out of it for over a year. He comes and goes and sometimes doesn’t know anyone. Apparently Ron has been taking him to some Alzimmers overnight care place once a month for five days at a time. He doesn’t even really know what has happened to his wife. Karen says that Ron brought him to the hospital and dropped him off and all he did was stare at her and crap himself.
