Well the New Year is here and this is the time of year that I always start looking at eating better and living healthy. Of course that includes starting an exercise program but more importantly it involves healthy cooking. All of us know that fat is an evil ingredient in our day to day cooking. Well this year my friend gave me this cute little George Foreman grill for Christmas. I was anxious to try it out and get started on my healthy living plan.
The grill is fairly small but there are only two of us in the house, so I think it will be sufficient. Upon opening it, I must say I actually like the small design. My friend said that they are easy to clean so I wiped it down before use (and you should too, as it does have some sort of residue on it) and searched the cupboards for something to cook. The first thing that I found was sausage so I plugged the grill in and let it heat up. I was not sure how long to wait. The grill she gave me has an indicator light. I think it took about five minutes to come on, so I just waited and put the patty sausage on. It must have been hot enough because it sizzled right away. It took about six minutes to cook the sausage to well done.
I loved the way the grease drained off into the plastic drip pan. Wow, sausage certainly has a lot of grease in it. The cooking time was a bit faster than on the stove and now, it was time to clean it up. I let the unit cool for a couple of minutes and then took a damp sponge to wipe it down. From the looks of the nonstick coating I thought it would wipe right down without effort. It was easy enough, but I did have to use the rough side of my sponge to get some of the gunk off, but overall I thought it was very easy to clean. I threw the drip pan in the dishwasher. Storage is great with this little grill. It takes up hardly any space and you can put it in any cupboard for easy access. Overall I really like this grill and I think I may invest in one of the big ones as well so that when company comes I can cook more. Thanks George for a great product!
